Preferential Rates
What it does
Apply reduced FTA duty rates when origin rules are satisfied. POTAL automatically calculates the preferential rate alongside the standard MFN rate, showing potential savings. The tariffOptimization field in calculation responses recommends the best available rate.
How to use it
Provide origin country
Include the origin field in your /calculate request to enable FTA rate lookup.
Check optimization
The tariffOptimization field shows the optimal rate type and savings vs. MFN.
Review rate options
rateOptions lists all available rates including MFN, preferential, and agreement-specific.
Apply to checkout
Use the lowest applicable rate in your pricing to maximize competitiveness.
